Augusta Locally Grown's weekly market offers fresh local food

AUGUSTA, Ga. () – Augusta Locally Grown holding its weekly farmers market with tons of local food for everyone.

The Veggie Park Farmers Market is held at The Hub every Thursday from 4-7pm showcasing local farmers and producers.

Augusta Locally Grown was founded in 2008 and supports farmers and gardeners by making fresh food available to the Augusta community.

Diane Kerekanich, serving as the Interim Executive Director at Augusta Locally Grown, shares that providing people access to this market enables them to put healthier food options on their tables.

“It might not always be about going to local stores like Family Dollar or Dollar Tree, which serve their purpose, but this offers an alternative. We also accept SNAP benefits and then double the amount to enhance the value they receive,” Kerekanich explained.

The market welcomes everyone, and if you are using a SNAP card, you can swipe it at the market manager booth to receive $2 in market tokens for every $1 you spend.

There is a wide variety of foods from vegetables, fresh squeezed juices, homemade sauces and more.

“There’s a wide range of people who visit; it’s not limited to those with benefits. Our token system levels the playing field so that anyone can come to the market. It’s a place where everyone can be together, and locals are thrilled to participate,” Kerekanich stated.

She says she looks forward to seeing returning and new faces every Thursday and gets excited seeing what people pick up.

“If you ask those who attend, Thursdays are cherished as it’s the day of the farmer’s market. We all enjoy it as a social occasion. People come not just for shopping but also for the enjoyable sense of community and the chance to connect with everyone,” Kerekanich added.

If you are not able to make it to the weekly farmers market, they also have an online market option.

They will also be hosting Harvest at The Hub Friday, September 26, 2025 from 6-9pm.
