Video: Family seeks justice for 19-year-old Jeremiah Stone after learning of possible plea deal in March.

A Riverview jury has sentenced a drunk driver to 13 years in prison after he caused a fatal four-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a 19-year-old last year.

Caleb Green received his sentence on Wednesday, July 2, which includes 13 years in a Florida State Prison followed by a decade of probation, as shared by Mike Moore, the public information officer for the 13th Judicial Circuit.

A memorial remains in place at the intersection of U.S. 301 and Bloomingdale Avenue, where Green, in January 2024, ignored a red light and collided with 19-year-old motorcyclist Jeremiah Stone.

Investigators said Jeremiah Stone was pushed into the car next to him and died at the scene. Multiple other people were also injured in the crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol determined that Green was under the influence, and he was arrested on a DUI manslaughter charge shortly after the incident.

Jeremiah Stone’s family told News Channel 8 the 19-year-old was taking on the family business and making his father proud.

“He was just getting started in life,” his father, Josh Stone said. “A lot of his friends called him a gentle giant. His heart was bigger than all of it.”

Jeremiah Stone’s family was outraged when they learned Green’s attorneys had approached the state with a plea deal in March, requesting a minimum of seven years of prison time.

He stole, on the light side, 50 years from my son,” Josh Stone said. “Seven years is a joke.”

Attorney Bryant Camareno, who is not affiliated with the case, told News Channel 8 a 15-year sentence is the norm for DUI manslaughter, and anything less than 10 years is unusual.
