'Click it or Ticket' ahead of Memorial Day, Champaign Co. Sheriff says

SAVOY, Ill. (WCIA) — On the Fourth of July, a driver was arrested for DUI after a multi-vehicle crash in Savoy that resulted in two people being hospitalized.

The incident occurred Friday night around 9 p.m., when the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a collision involving multiple cars at E Curtis Road and Paddock Drive E. Initially, the crash was confusing and suspected to be a hit and run. However, the Sheriff’s Office confirmed that at least two vehicles were involved.

One of the drivers was apprehended on DUI charges and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. After receiving treatment, they were given tickets and released. Another driver involved in the crash also suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized.

Details on this incident are limited at this time, as the full report is not out yet and according to the Sheriff’s Office, DUI investigations typically last awhile. There is no further information at this time.
