Missing Emmanuel Haro's dad wants to cooperate with police, ex-lawyer says

() The father of missing seven-month-old Emmanuel Haro is cooperating with police and has handed over all his electronic devices and passwords, according to his lawyer.

“I don’t know where that statement that they stopped cooperating came from,” Vincent Hughes, who is representing Jake Haro in a separate case, told “Banfield” on Tuesday. “I spoke to the detectives yesterday, offered for Jake to continue to speak with them; have not been made aware of any requests today to speak with Jake.”

San Bernardino County deputies in southern California have been searching for Emmanuel Haro since Aug. 14. Police say his mother, Rebecca Haro, declined to be interviewed further when they questioned inconsistencies in her story about her son’s disappearance, and that detectives haven’t been able to rule out foul play.

Hughes, who made it clear he only represents Jake and not Rebecca, said both parents voluntarily turned over their electronic devices and their passwords.

Couple’s home searched, car taken

Rebecca Haro told police that she was changing Emmanuel’s diaper in the parking lot of a Big 5 Sporting Goods Store when a stranger knocked her out and kidnapped the boy.

Hughes stated they’ve been without a vehicle since the kidnapping.

“They have no reliable transportation. They don’t have phones or internet to contact people because their devices have been taken, so how can they participate?” he said.

“Everyone’s made their mind up and saying that they’re refusing to do anything. They can’t.”

Jake Haro’s 2-year-old removed from home

Hughes also confirmed that Jake Haro’s 2-year-old was removed from their home during the investigation into Emmanuel’s disappearance.

Jake Haro has a criminal past. He and his ex-wife pleaded guilty to willful child cruelty after their then-10-week-old daughter was admitted to a hospital with broken bones in 2018, according to The Orange County Register.

He is due in court on Sept. 2 after being accused of being a felon or addict in possession of a firearm, the newspaper reported.

Jake Haro begging for public’s help

Hughes said that Haro feels like no one is listening to him and questioned whether the cops are doing enough.

“The reason I’m on the show, to be very clear, is they’re begging for the public to help,” Hughes said. “They’re begging for people to provide information.”

“Law enforcement is being very tight-lipped about the situation. That’s what’s concerning.”

In their latest update, San Bernardino deputies said they were examining a “large amount” of surveillance video from the area after extensive searches in Yucaipa and Cabazon.

“Investigators interviewed multiple individuals, including Emmanuel’s parents Jake and Rebecca Haro,” the sheriff’s department wrote.

“During those interviews, Rebecca was confronted with inconsistencies in her initial statement and declined to continue with the interview. At this point in the investigation, investigators are unable to rule out foul play in the disappearance of Emmanuel.”
