Erik Menendez parole denial is 'positive': Menendez's sponsor

Erik Menendez’s advocate considers the decision to deny him parole for three years by a pair of California commissioners, making him eligible once again after that period, to be a positive development.

Rapper Anerae “X-Raided” Brown, who shared 18 years of incarceration with Erik and Lyle Menendez, appeared on “Banfield” Thursday night to talk about this ruling.

“Honestly, this outcome is what I anticipated,” Brown mentioned. “I thought we would encounter a three-year denial, and I see it as a favorable result.”

Menendez’s family disagrees, releasing a statement saying they are disappointed in the board’s decision after the parole denial.

Brown, who was housed with Menendez, said he had spoken to him in the days leading up to the decision and noted he was “in good spirits.”

“I can confirm that transitioning from life imprisonment without the possibility of parole to 50 years to life, culminating in this three-year denial—which is the shortest denial period possible in California—is indeed a success,” stated Brown.

He believes all Menendez has to do to earn freedom is follow the rules for 18 months.

“Provided Erik Menendez maintains good behavior, he can return before the board by February 2027, unless there is a positive decision regarding the habeas petition prior to that,” Brown continued.
