ERWIN, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Erwin Police Department apprehended a man on Thursday morning on charges of three counts of aggravated sexual assault against a minor.

Per a news release from the police department, Jeremy Jones, aged 38, was taken into custody around 8:30 a.m. when officers carried out an arrest warrant.

Following an investigation by the Erwin Police Department that commenced earlier in 2025, a grand jury brought forward the indictment against Jones on the three counts.

The police initiated the investigation following reports that Jones had sexually assaulted a child under eight years old.

Jones was arrested in Erwin by the Erwin Police Department SWAT Team along with deputies from the Unicoi County Sheriff’s Office.
