AUGUSTA, Ga. ()- The unofficial start of the summer vacation season is getting underway.

A lot of people will be making voluntary and involuntary stops.

There are some tips you may want to take before you make an involuntary stop.

Drivers should ensure that they visit a mechanic or personally inspect their vehicles for battery condition, tire pressure, engine oil, and tire wear before hitting the road.

Always make sure that you wear your seatbelt, stay off your phone and do not drive impaired.

It’s crucial to adhere to the move-over law, designed to safeguard officers, emergency personnel, and other roadside workers, by either changing lanes or reducing speed when encountering vehicles with flashing lights stopped on the roadside.

The spokesperson for AAA tells me that it’s important you follow safety laws.

“Make sure to fasten your seatbelt before starting your journey. It’s essential to avoid distractions while driving to ensure everyone arrives at their destinations safely and promptly. Particularly in Georgia, as well as throughout the U.S., keep in mind the move-over law since AAA anticipates aiding many travelers this weekend. Following that law is incredibly important,” stated Montrae Waiters.

If you’re feeling tired, just pullover on the side of the road or to a welcome center, take a walk around or just take a nap.
