In Sugar Land, Texas, former NFL star Adrian Peterson found himself in legal trouble, having been arrested in a suburb of Houston on charges related to driving while intoxicated and carrying a weapon unlawfully, according to official records.

Houston’s KHOU television station reported that Peterson was detained on Sunday. This incident marks the second time in seven months that the 2012 NFL MVP and three-time rushing leader has faced DWI charges.

The 40-year-old, who first made a name for himself as a high school football standout in East Texas, resides in the Houston area. Before launching his NFL career, Peterson played college football at Oklahoma. He spent the first decade of his professional life with the Minnesota Vikings, who selected him seventh overall in the 2007 draft.

Earlier this year, back in April, Peterson was apprehended on similar charges of driving under the influence in Minneapolis. This arrest followed his appearance at an NFL draft event for Vikings supporters.

His Minnesota arrest stemmed from a speeding incident, but details regarding his recent arrest in Texas remain scarce. Furthermore, there is no available information concerning legal representation for Peterson in this matter.

Renowned for his prowess on the field, Peterson is one of only nine running backs in NFL history to have rushed over 2,000 yards in a single season, achieving 2,097 yards during his MVP year in 2012. Over his 15-season career, he amassed 14,918 rushing yards and 120 touchdowns, playing for six different teams in his last five seasons.
