ONLY ON 3: Exclusive first look at the new Savannah Pirates and Treasure Museum

SAVANNAH, Ga. () — A new museum is opening its doors on Monday and it spotlights a very mysterious group of people.

A sneak peek was granted to explore Savannah’s Pirates and Treasure Museum, a unique addition to the city. According to Kayla Black, Director of Attractions with Old Town Trolley Tours of Savannah, Inc., they are clarifying the myths surrounding pirates.

“There’s this longstanding idea that pirates were in Savanna, but there was no verifiable proof of it,” Black said.

Old Town Trolley engaged a firm from Washington, D.C., to perform thorough research. Black mentioned that they examined records from the National Archives, examined documents from the University of Georgia library, and reviewed Savannah City Council meeting minutes dating back to the 1700s.

“They found clear evidence of piracy in Savannah,” Black said.

That evidence is now on display in the haunted city. The museum is located right below the Prohibition Museum.

During this self-guided tour, visitors can enjoy interactive exhibits, genuine relics, top-notch museum features, and a glimpse of pirate life at The Pirates Tavern.

There are sights and sounds for all ages but since pirates weren’t the nicest of people, parents can choose which exhibits their kids visit.

The museum opens Monday at 10:00 a.m. For more excitement, stop by for the grand opening on November 6.
