TRI-CITIES, Tenn./Va. (WJHL) — This weekend, the Tri-Cities area is buzzing with activities, including a hiking excursion at Warriors Path State Park and the lively Elk Fest in Buchanan County.

Southern Gap Elk Fest

The festival promises a range of activities, from guided elk tours and games to food trucks, music, and more.

Drug Take Back Day

Additionally, several police departments in the Tri-Cities are organizing Drug Take Back events on Saturday. Residents are encouraged to bring tablets, capsules, patches, and other prescription medications for safe disposal.

Hiking Adventure – Autumn on Firescald Knob

Hike on Bald Mountain in Greene County while experiencing geology, history and native plant communities.

Nolichucky River Restoration and Tree Planting

Community tree planting to restore a 5-acre conservation site destroyed by Hurricane Helene.

Kingsport Blessing of the Animals & Pet Costume Competition

Fifteen United Methodist Churches in Kingsport are teaming up to host a “Blessing of the Animals” event on Saturday. A pet costume contest, games, facepainting, food and free pet portraits will also be offered at the event.

Pet Adoption Event

Hosted by Wallace Subaru of Johnson City and the Washington County, Tennessee Animal Shelter. Donations of cat litter, cat/dog food, blankets, cleaning supplies and paper towels will also be accepted.
