In the tragic case of 16-year-old am Raine, his parents reveal that in his final weeks, he turned to the ChatGPT artificial intelligence chatbot as a replacement for human interaction. As a result, they have initiated legal action against the creators of ChatGPT, OpenAI, and its CEO Sam Altman, claiming they are accountable for their son’s death. In response, OpenAI stated, “we’re working to make ChatGPT more supportive in moments of crisis.” NBC News’ Laura Jarrett provides coverage on this story.
