BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A tragic head-on collision in Brevard County resulted in one fatality on Tuesday afternoon, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Sykes Creek Parkway near the intersection with Old Audubon Road, according to troopers.

Details from the crash report indicate that a Toyota 4Runner was heading north on Sykes Creek Parkway as it approached Old Audubon Road.

Simultaneously, a GMC Sierra was traveling south on the same road, nearing the same intersection.

For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the 4Runner lost control while navigating a curve and inadvertently crossed into the southbound lane, directly in the path of the oncoming Sierra. This resulted in a frontal collision between the two vehicles.

The 4Runner’s driver, identified only as an adult male, was transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The Sierra’s driver, identified as a 30-year-old male from Merritt Island, was not injured and remained at the scene.

There is currently a roadblock for both directions on Sykes Creek Parkway, troopers said.

    The crash remains under investigation.
