UPDATE: Coroner identifies driver killed in Sunday Effingham Co. crash

IROQUOIS COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — One person died and three people were hospitalized following a two-car crash in Iroquois County on Sunday.

Illinois State Police Troopers responded to U.S. 24 at 200 E, near Gilman just after 6 p.m.

According to State Police, the collision involved a Kia and a Chevrolet. The Kia’s driver was declared deceased at the scene by the Iroquois County Coroner. The passenger in the Kia, along with both the driver and passenger of the Chevrolet, were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The road closed after the accident but reopened around 12:15 a.m. on Monday.

State Police added that there is no further information at this time.

WCIA reached out to the Iroquois County Coroner for more information but did not immediately receive a response back.
