MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A tragic accident occurred on Saturday when a 26-year-old man from Reddick lost his life after his car hit a tree near McIntosh, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 5:38 p.m. on NW 219th Street Road, east of NW 51st Court, troopers said.

The FHP crash report reveals that the car was heading west on NW 219th Street Road when it failed to stay in its lane during a right curve, drifting left. The vehicle spun clockwise off the road onto the south shoulder, where it collided on the driver’s side with a tree, according to the report.

After the impact, the car spun counterclockwise and stopped on the shoulder, facing southeast. Authorities suspect the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident.

The driver was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m., according to the report.
