(KTLA) — Accused with his wife of the murder of their 7-month-old son, Emmanuel Haro, who has gone missing and is presumed dead, a man aided investigators in Moreno Valley on Sunday in the search for the child’s body.

Authorities in San Bernardino and Riverside counties began a large-scale search on Aug. 14 after Rebecca and Jake Haro reported that their baby had been abducted from a Yucaipa Big 5 Sporting Goods store parking lot. According to their account, a stranger knocked Rebecca Haro unconscious, leaving her with a black eye.

Following the purported abduction, it was revealed that the couple was not cooperating with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Other details emerged, such as the possible existence of a video showing Rebecca Haro with a black eye on Aug. 3, the removal of the couple’s 2-year-old from their custody, and Jake Haro’s previous felony conviction for willful child cruelty.

Authorities also said that Jake Haro violated his probation in that case by being a felon in possession of a firearm.

In another disturbing detail, it was disclosed that the 7-month-old’s maternal uncle is serving a 50-year-to-life sentence for murdering his girlfriend in their Palm Springs apartment and making it seem like a suicide.

Just four days after the reported abduction, investigators focused on the parents, utilizing cadaver dogs in a search of the family’s Cabazon residence and confiscating Jake Haro’s vehicle, along with cellphones and electronics, to secure and examine any potential evidence.

Rebecca Haro, 41, and Jake Haro, 32, were arrested Friday morning on suspicion of murder after a widely publicized search for their son.

On Aug. 24, accompanied by deputies, Jake Haro, in a prison jumpsuit, was observed helping crews search for his son’s remains near the junction of the westbound 60 Freeway and Gilman Springs Road in Moreno Valley. Using cadaver dogs, officials from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed their deployment in the operation, KTLA was informed.

Footage of the search and recovery mission showed dozens of people parked on the side of the 60 Freeway and fanning out into the dry brush along the hillsides and paths in the area as they looked for evidence of baby Emmanuel’s remains.

Sheriff’s officials confirmed to KTLA that as the afternoon’s search wrapped up, the 7-month-old’s remains had not been located.
