The father of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro, who is presumed to have passed away, aided investigators in Moreno Valley on Sunday in the search for the child’s remains.
On August 14, authorities from San Bernardino and Riverside counties initiated a comprehensive search after Rebecca and Jake Haro reported that their baby boy had been abducted from the parking lot of a Yucaipa Big 5 Sporting Goods store. This incident reportedly followed an attack where a stranger allegedly knocked Rebecca unconscious, resulting in a black eye.
In the aftermath of the reported kidnapping, new developments surfaced. These included the couple’s alleged lack of cooperation with San Bernardino County Sheriff’s investigators, the possible existence of a video dating August 3 showing Rebecca with a black eye, the removal of the couple’s 2-year-old child from their care, and the revelation of Jake Haro’s prior felony conviction for willful child cruelty.
Investigators focused their attention on the parents, employing cadaver dogs as they searched the family’s Cabazon residence. They also seized Jake’s vehicle, along with cellphones and other electronic devices, to preserve and analyze any possible evidence.
Emmanuel’s parents were arrested Friday morning on suspicion of murder after a widely publicized search for their son.
Jake, dressed in a prison jumpsuit, was observed aiding search and rescue teams near the 60 Freeway and Gilman Springs Road in Moreno Valley under the escort of deputies. Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department were also utilizing cadaver dogs in the search effort.
Sheriff’s officials confirmed to KTLA that the afternoon’s search was wrapping up and the 7-month-old’s remains were not located.
