OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – In a tragic incident early Saturday, a father is now facing legal charges following the death of his 20-month-old daughter, who was discovered unresponsive in a hot tub at a vacation rental property, as reported by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement officials were called to a residence on Nice Court, an Airbnb listing, around 3:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a potential drowning involving a young child.
The toddler was rushed to AdventHealth Celebration, but sadly, medical personnel pronounced her dead shortly after 4:30 a.m.
According to detectives, the father, identified as 30-year-old Reynard Tyrone Hough, informed investigators that he had taken his daughter into the hot tub and unintentionally fell asleep while holding her. Upon waking, he found her lifeless in his arms, as detailed by the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office noted that the family was visiting from Washington, D.C.
As a result of the incident, Hough has been arrested and is facing charges of child neglect resulting in great bodily harm, authorities confirmed.
On Sunday, detectives added a charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child.
Hough remains in custody, deputies said.
