The FBI is actively combating violent crime across the United States, addressing a wide spectrum of offenses through investigations targeting gangs, crimes against children, and other serious violations.
Recent FBI efforts have yielded significant results, as highlighted in a series of press releases.
Gang Violence and Racketeering:
- A leader of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips in South Los Angeles, Eugene Henry Jr., faces numerous felony charges, including murder, extortion, and fraud. Prosecutors allege that Henry ran a “mafia-like” organization that used violence and intimidation to exert power.

Crimes Against Children:
- In Iowa, Carl Dale Markley, a nurse practitioner, was sentenced to life in prison for sex trafficking and sexually abusing dozens of children and adults. Markley exploited his position to befriend and abuse victims over many years.
Firearms Offenses:
- In Mississippi, Antonio Johnson received a ten-year sentence for violating federal firearms laws, including possession of firearms by a convicted felon and possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking.
Theft and Robbery:
- An Irvine, California man, Mark Meng, was sentenced to nearly four years in prison for stealing and reselling high-end violins and for robbing a bank. Meng deceived violin shops by obtaining instruments on loan and then failing to pay for them.

Organized Crime:
- In a Louisville case, the final defendant, John E. Lohden Jr., was sentenced to 39 years in federal prison for his involvement in a string of violent crimes, drug and gun offenses, and money laundering. Lohden Jr. and his associates used tactics to impersonate law enforcement.
Murder for Hire:
- Rafat Amirov and Polad Omarov, members of an Eastern European organized crime group, were convicted of murder-for-hire for their role in a plot to kill a U.S.-based journalist critical of the Iranian government.
Crimes Against Children (Attempted):
- A Minnesota state senator, Justin David Eichorn, has been charged with attempted coercion and enticement of a minor after allegedly soliciting sex from an undercover officer posing as a 17-year-old.

Hate Crimes:
- In Michigan, David Bluer was sentenced to prison for a hate crime after defacing a predominantly Black church with swastikas and racist graffiti.
