WRIGHTSVILLE, Ga. – In the quiet hours close to midnight, a startling incident unfolded in Wrightsville. A police officer and a firefighter were conversing outside Sidetrack on East College Street when a man, wielding a large blade, approached them aggressively.
Faced with an immediate threat to himself and the firefighter, the officer discharged his weapon multiple times, striking the assailant.
The wounded suspect was promptly taken by EMS to a nearby hospital. As of now, the details regarding his condition remain undisclosed.
The firefighter, who suffered severe injuries to his arms during the confrontation, was expedited to medical care in a patrol vehicle. Fortunately, he is expected to recover from the ordeal.
Remarkably, the police officer involved emerged unscathed from the incident.
In accordance with standard procedure, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been informed and is now spearheading the investigation into this alarming event.
