JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Commissioners in Johnson City are set to interview a group of five candidates for the commission seat vacancy created after former mayor John Hunter’s resignation.

They are Tembra Aldridge, Whitney Goetz, Tricia Korade, Seth Thomas and Bo Westmoreland.

The four current commissioners established a deadline of 9 a.m. Monday to propose two finalists each for the position, which they plan to decide upon at their regular meeting on Thursday. A total of 19 eligible individuals expressed their interest by submitting their names and letters for consideration late last week.

The five finalists, with a link to their letter of interest posted on the Johnson City website, include:

  • Tembra Aldridge, former manager of the Mall at Johnson City, who has served on the planning commission, Johnson City Development Authority and numerous other boards and committees.
  • Whitney Goetz, a Johnson City native, member of the Connect Downtown board and executive director of East Tennessee State University’s national alumni association.
  • Tricia Korade, a longtime businessperson who moved to Johnson City in 2022 and has served on the County Board of Equalization.
  • Seth Thomas, a project administrator who has served on the Johnson City Development Authority, a local economic development organization and several other local boards.
  • Bo Westmoreland, a local dentist with a history of volunteer work who ran for the commission in 2024.

This is a developing story.
