Five fire depts. respond to motorhome fire in Clinton state park

CLINTON, Ill. (WCIA) — A bus/motorhome fire at a state park in Clinton was quickly put out by the five responding fire departments Friday morning.

The Clinton Fire Department was called at 11:08 a.m. to respond to a report of a fully engulfed camper fire at Weldon Springs State Park Campground. They arrived with 12 firefighters and collaborated with the following agencies:

  • Maroa Fire Protection District
  • Wapella Fire Protection District
  • Kenney Fire Protection District
  • Waynesville Fire Protection District

Upon arrival, they found DeWitt Ambulance providing care for individuals and discovered a bus/motorhome that was not fully engulfed but required an interior fire attack due to internal flames.

The firefighters managed to control the fire within 10 minutes, successfully preventing any additional spread or property damage. No injuries were reported at the scene.

Clinton Fire crews were back at the station by 1:42 p.m.
