CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — A flood watch is in effect for a number of Central Illinois counties and will last until Sunday.
Courtesy the National Weather Service, flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible for portions of the following Central Illinois counties:
- Christian
- DeWitt
- Logan
- Macon
- McLean
- Menard
- Piatt
- Sangamon
- Champaign
- Vermilion
- Morgan
A flood watch has been issued for these counties, starting from 1:45 p.m. on Saturday and continuing until 1 p.m. on Sunday. Potential impacts include excessive runoff, which may cause flooding in rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying areas prone to flooding. Urban and poor drainage areas might also experience flooding.
Residents in these regions should keep an eye on upcoming forecasts and stay alert for any flood warnings. Those living in flood-prone areas need to be ready to act if flooding begins.
