NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – According to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, a woman residing unlawfully in the U.S. was apprehended while taking her pug for a walk at New Smyrna Beach earlier this month.

The arrest affidavit details that the woman, identified as Angie Sandoval-Padro, 27, was seen strolling with her dog in a section of the beach that prohibits dogs on July 12.

As a result, she was placed under arrest and booked into the county jail, deputies added.

“Deputies reached out to ICE, and they stated they would issue a detainer for Angie Sandoval-Padro at the jail, indicating her illegal status in the U.S. and that she would face removal proceedings,” the affidavit stated.

Body-camera footage released by the VSO shows the beach encounter, with a nearby woman translating what the responding deputy was saying into Spanish for Sandoval-Padro.

Per investigators, Sandoval-Padro was born in Colombia, though she was living in Orlando at the time of her arrest.

However, no information has been provided at this time about when or how she came to the U.S.

Booking data with the Volusia County Jail reveals that she was released the next day on July 13. She faces a charge of violating county ordinance.
