MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 66-year-old Ocala man was killed in a hit-and-run crash overnight in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A passerby reported the incident at approximately 11:25 p.m. on Wednesday, according to troopers. An FHP crash report indicates that the man’s body was discovered in the right turn lane of County Road 464 (Maricamp Road), just to the east of its junction with Bahia Road.
The man was walking in the westbound turn lane of C.R. 464 when he was hit by an unknown vehicle traveling west, troopers explained, noting the area lacked street lighting and was dark.
The vehicle left the scene and its driver failed to report the crash, according to the report.
The suspect’s vehicle is expected to have front grille or hood damage, with gray grille pieces that are broken and missing, as per the report.
