FORT MYERS, Fla. (WFLA) — A mother and her son were arrested after the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said they took “game night way too seriously.”
Jose Baez Suarez, 22, faces allegations of robbing a Fort Myers arcade at gunpoint, while his mother, Yideyla Suarez Cedeno, 43, allegedly served as his getaway driver nearby.
According to deputies, witnesses claimed that a man, later identified as Suarez, entered the Kings World Arcade on Friday, July 18, and threatened a cashier at gunpoint.
Surveillance footage showed him running out of the arcade with an undisclosed amount of cash and jumping into a RAV4, according to authorities.
Investigators tracked down the vehicle on Tuesday, July 22, utilizing additional DOT footage and license plate reader data. Cedeno was driving the car when authorities conducted the stop, with Suarez also found inside.
In addition to other evidence pointing to them as suspects, detectives said the mother and son duo had a black BB gun with them that resembled the weapon used in the robbery.
Both Suarez and Cedeno were arrested and charged in relation to the incident, according to the sheriff’s office.
