Juantavis Lavonte Hudson, the owner of Amirah Healthcare LLC, a Medicaid-funded home and community services provider, has been arrested for defrauding the Florida Medicaid program of more than $50,000.

Attorney General James Uthmeier’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) announced the arrest, with assistance from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

According to the law enforcement investigation, Hudson submitted fraudulent claims to Medicaid for services that were never provided to recipients.

“This defendant fraudulently billed Florida taxpayer-funded Medicaid tens of thousands of dollars,” stated Attorney General James Uthmeier. “Thanks to the work of our law enforcement partners and the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, he will face up to 30 years in prison.”

The investigation began in March 2024, after the parents of a Medicaid recipient raised concerns about Hudson’s billing practices. They confirmed that services billed by Hudson were not rendered on several dates and times.

Further investigation by the MFCU revealed that Hudson had billed and received payment for services that were not provided to three Medicaid recipients. Caregiver testimony and documentation confirmed the fraudulent activity, resulting in a total loss of $53,201.34 to the Florida Medicaid program.

The Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit will prosecute the case through an agreement with the State Attorney’s Office for the Fourth Judicial Circuit.
