Woman wanted in Florida believed to be in Decatur with 2-year-old daughter

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Authorities suspect a woman sought in Florida may currently be in Decatur with her 2-year-old daughter, after her vehicle was discovered there on Thursday.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office informed WCIA that on Tuesday, Courtney Stanley evaded deputies in Florida who were probing a theft at a Walmart in Bradenton, Fla.

“At the time of the incident, her 2-year-old daughter, Amara, was not secured in the car as Courtney accelerated away, knocking a deputy to the ground and dodging detention,” detectives mentioned in a news release. “Given her actions and the situation, the child is considered to be in danger.”

On Thursday, detectives said the Illinois State Police found Stanley’s vehicle in the Decatur area.

“The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office requests that anyone with information on their location reach out to the Decatur Police Department at (217) 424-2711,” the detectives advised.
