Former Savannah Technical College President Kathy Love passes

SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The Savannah Technical College shared that their Former President, Dr. Kathy S. Love passed away Friday.

Love served as president of Savannah Technical College from 2009 until her retirement in March 2024.

“She led with compassion, vision, and an unwavering commitment to student success,” a Savannah Tech spokesperson remarked. “She leaves behind a lasting legacy of excellence and care that continues to influence our college today.”

Dr. Ryan W. Foley, the current President of Savannah Technical College, shared this statement regarding her passing: “Dr. Love’s impact on Savannah Technical College and the Technical College System of Georgia is immense. During her presidency, she led with compassion, vision, and a steadfast commitment to student success. Under her guidance, Savannah Tech expanded its programs, strengthened community ties, and bolstered its position as a crucial contributor to workforce development throughout our region. She advocated for access to technical education and held a deep belief in the transformative power of opportunity.”

Several pivotal projects were accomplished during Love’s presidency, including the establishment of their Aviation Training Center, the successful transition of the Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene program, and the creation of the Student Enrichment Center. Under her leadership, Savannah Tech gained national recognition from Community College Magazine as one of the fastest-growing two-year colleges of its size.

Savannah Tech said they will share details regarding memorial or service arrangements as they become available.
