LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. () – The Liberty County School System board has appointed Debra Frazier as the superintendent until June 2026. She previously took on the interim role after Franklin Perry retired in June.

Debra Frazier came out of retirement initially to lay a groundwork for the incoming superintendent. Now, she will be leading the district for the next two years.

Her primary academic focus is to monitor test data more frequently throughout the year, rather than waiting until the end, ensuring the district remains on target.

“The success will be measured by benchmarks,” Frazier stated. “We won’t wait for the end of the school year to gauge success. We’ll assess it as we progress.”

Her initiatives relate to the district’s ongoing literacy enhancement efforts. This plan includes a fresh instructional framework, more professional learning opportunities for teachers, and greater community involvement to assist families in supporting students at home.

“The change I hope families will notice is that their student… experienced success,” Frazier remarked. “Our goal is to ensure we address the needs of every student.”

Frazier acknowledged one of her biggest challenges will be increasing parent engagement. To address that, she said she plans to maintain an open-door policy and keep communication transparent between the district and families.

She also emphasized that safety is a top non-academic priority, saying the district must ensure students and staff feel secure during the school day.

For now, the new superintendent says her focus is on building trust and setting the tone for the district’s future.
