PARIS, Ill. (WCIA) — A clinic offering free dental, vision and medical services will be making an appearance in Edgar County this weekend.
Remote Area Medical (RAM) is a charitable organization dedicated to delivering complimentary, high-quality healthcare to individuals in need. Organizers expressed their hope that these pop-up clinics will help tackle the issue of restricted access to essential healthcare services that many Americans face.
On June 28-29 at Paris High School, situated at 14040 E. 1200th Road, a free clinic will offer dental, vision, and medical services. This clinic is intended for individuals who might not have access to such services otherwise, according to organizers. Attendees at the clinic can expect the following:
- Dental cleanings
- Dental fillings
- Dental extractions
- Dental X-rays
- Eye exams
- Eyeglass prescriptions
- Glasses made on-site
- Women’s health exams
- General medical exams
“By providing healthcare directly to those in need, RAM eliminates the financial and geographical barriers that often deter people from obtaining necessary care,” stated RAM in a news release.
Clinic attendees can receive free care in Paris, even without an ID, according to RAM officials. The clinic doors will open up at 6 a.m. on June 28, and services will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The clinic will close when capacity is reached. Sunday will be an abbreviated day, according to RAM, so patients are asked to arrive as early as they can.
Patients may have to choose between dental and vision services due to time constraints, but all patients will be offered general medical care.
In case of inclement weather, volunteer cancellations, or other circumstances, the parking lot could open earlier or a smaller number of participants could be served. The clinic closing time will vary based on each day’s capacity.
To learn more about the clinic, or for information on how to volunteer or donate, visit RAM’s website, call 865-579-1530, or visit them on Facebook.
