GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Kelvin Lee Pritchett, 39, was arrested last night and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly threatening to kill a woman while brandishing a gun.

At about 9:29 p.m. on March 26, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to Pinetree Gardens Apartments, where the victim said she had told Pritchett to leave her residence because he was being disrespectful to her guests. She said she and Pritchett argued, and then Pritchett threatened to kill her while standing at her front door. She said Pritchett took a black firearm from his waistband, causing her to fear for her life. She said she watched Pritchett walk to the apartment directly across the street after the incident.

A neighbor reportedly said he saw Pritchett threaten the victim and lift his shirt, pulling out a firearm. The neighbor said the victim was so upset that she could not make the 911 call at the time of the incident; he confirmed that Pritchett walked to the apartment directly across the street.

The officer reported that he located Pritchett across the street from the victim’s apartment.

Post Miranda, Pritchett reportedly confirmed that he had argued with the victim but denied threatening her with a firearm.

Pritchett has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He has two felony convictions (none violent) and nine misdemeanor convictions (none violent) and has served two state prison sentences, with his most recent release in 2019. Judge Jonathan Ramsey set bail at $10,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
