ATLANTA () — A former Georgia Southern pitcher participated in the MLB Futures game, which is part of the MLB All-Star weekend festivities.

Hayden Harris was selected as a pitcher for the National League team. The Augusta, Ga. native is currently on the Gwinnett Stripers.

“I always reminisce about my time at Georgia Southern,” Harris mentioned. “Especially during my fifth year. The latter half of that season when we managed to host a Regional. I reflect on my choice to stop overextending myself and truly appreciate the moment. It’s an approach I strive to maintain each day in my professional baseball career. I have a fondness for Statesboro. I spent five years there. At that point, it kinda grows on you, don’t you think?”

Harris entered the game in the top of the sixth inning with two outs. He struck out the only hitter he faced on four pitches.

The Georgia Southern University alumnus has participated in nine games with AAA-Gwinnett after his call-up in June. His debut game was on June 11. Throughout his performances, he has allowed seven earned runs over 9 2/3 innings pitched.
