A little rain wasn’t enough to dampen the spirits in Glennville on Saturday. Despite the unfavorable weather, the festival-goers remained cheerful and enthusiastic.

The Glennville Sweet Onion Festival stands as the town’s most significant annual celebration. Glennville, the largest town in Tattnall County, leads in producing Vidalia Sweet Onions, exceeding all other counties certified by the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Each year, this area contributes roughly half of the state’s total Sweet Onion harvest.

The Glennville Sweet Onion Festival celebrates the harvesting of the yearly Vidalia sweet onion crop.

Amy Terrell, president of the Glennville Chamber of Commerce, noted that the rain didn’t deter the event’s participants, which included 120 arts and crafts vendors, 75 parade participants, 20 food vendors, and the community members who supported them. “It’s wonderful for the community to unite, to feel connected. There are so many individuals offering various things. This festival is a fantastic chance to support small businesses and build personal relationships with people,” she expressed.
