NORTH AUGUSTA, Ga () – The Greenjackets opening up at home for the second year in a row hosting the Columbia Fireflies after several years of opening on the road and thousands were at the stadium to cheer them on.
The first 2,000 fans to walk through the gates were able to get a Greenjackets golf towel.
12 year old, Cooper Quance, the DJ for the game said he was excited to watch and play music during the game.
“This is our first time DJing but not our first time coming here. We’ve been here about three times including this time. I’m actually very excited for this. Being able to watch baseball, it’s a fun night. Y’all got like so many stuff here it’s awesome.” Quance said.
The Greenjackets are the Single-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, so many Greenjackets fans are also Braves fans.
Quance said, “My favorite part? The food, it’s really good. We’re big fans of the Braves.”
We spoke with one of the people who threw the first pitch of the game, Cale Gustafson. He has been going to Greenjackets games since he can remember and says he was excited but also nervous.
“Tonight, is client appreciation night for my financial advisor and he called me last week and said ‘hey, do you want to throw out the first pitch?’ I think my wife is more nervous than I am, she made me practice in the yard.” said Gustafson
The Greenjackets will be hosting the Fireflies all weekend long to start off the season.
