GROVELAND, Fla. – In response to Kroger’s decision to exit Groveland, resulting in the loss of approximately 1,400 jobs, the city has announced a CareerSource job fair to be held at the soon-to-close fulfillment center.

The job fair is set to take place on December 10, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Kroger Fulfillment Center located at 7925 American Way, as shared by the city on its social media platforms.

“CareerSource Central Florida is organizing a dedicated job fair to assist Kroger employees in finding new job opportunities, training programs, and scholarship options,” the city’s social media post explained. “We stand in solidarity with our Kroger families and will keep providing updates and opportunities as they arise.”

Having opened its doors in 2019 after a $55 million investment, the Kroger Fulfillment Center in Groveland has grown to become one of the major employers in Lake County. While the closure was announced alongside two other fulfillment centers in the U.S., a specific closure date was not provided. However, it was confirmed that delivery services would cease by February 1, 2026.

Groveland Mayor Keith Keogh expressed his deep concern over Kroger’s announcement, stating that it left him heartbroken for the hundreds of employees who will face unemployment following the facility’s shutdown.

“Each and every one of us knows someone who works in that facility, so for us, it’s personal. Please know we’re actively working with local, county and regional organizations to ensure these folks have every available resource,” Keogh wrote, adding legal paths are being explored so that the community may “fight for every dollar we invested in this project.”

More than 15 employers are set to attend the job fair at the time of this writing, according to the city.
