GROVETOWN, Ga. () – On July 16, Nicole Pruitt was en route from Atlanta to Tucson, AZ to meet her new grandson. Her trip, which began peacefully, almost turned into a crisis. Pruitt recounted to , “I remember the flight attendant instructing the young lady, ‘Ma’am, you need to return to your seat,’ as she attempted to open the cockpit and the main entrance doors.”

Realizing that the flight attendant was having difficulty restraining the passenger, Pruitt immediately jumped into action. “I noticed nobody else was reacting; the young lady refused to sit. I was by the window seat and asked the gentleman next to me, ‘Sir, please excuse me,’ then I approached her unexpectedly,” she explained.

Pruitt attributed her swift response to her military training, noting that this incident felt particularly personal. “This was emotional because we’ll always remember 9/11. Many paid the ultimate price, partly because some remained passive. That day, I wasn’t going to let that happen,” Pruitt reflected.

Friends and fellow soldiers came together at Rally Point Grille, a veteran-owned restaurant in Evans, to honor Pruitt. She expressed gratitude for the recognition of her bravery. “I’m thankful to still be here; the situation could have had various outcomes. It truly warms my heart to have everyone here,” Pruitt shared.
