HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Authorities reported that two individuals were seen openly carrying guns in Holmes County on Tuesday, identifying themselves as Second Amendment auditors.
Deputies with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office were called to monitor the duo after they were spotted in the area of Thomas Drive near the prison.

The sheriff’s office noted that these men were conducting themselves as Second Amendment auditors and seemed to be filming the police to elicit a reaction.
In September, a state appeals court overturned Florida’s 2023 open carry ban, calling it unconstitutional.
In a social media update, the sheriff’s office expressed that the two “gunslingers” did not receive the response they were hoping for and subsequently reached out to complain that a deputy was persistently following and bothering them.
“Let’s make one thing clear — if you’re walking around wearing body armor and carrying an AR-15, our deputies will act accordingly to ensure the safety of our community,” stated the sheriff’s office in a Facebook post.
“Public safety comes first. Always.”
