HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Additional details have emerged from the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office regarding a tragic shooting incident that took place on Friday.

Officials reported that the shooting happened at approximately 4 p.m. near the junction of Christians Bend Road and Ensor Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered 55-year-old Steven R. Ball deceased from what were described as “apparent gunshot wounds,” according to a news release.

Authorities promptly secured the area and commenced interviews with witnesses present at the scene.

The sheriff’s office confirmed that a person of interest has been identified and located.

As of Monday morning, the investigation remains “very active and ongoing,” as stated in the release.

According to the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office, there is no ongoing threat to the public.
