ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando man with special needs is reaching out for assistance after his trailer, containing essential lawn care equipment used to support himself and his mother, was stolen.

Kyle Lukowski had parked the trailer, which included a riding lawn mower and other valuable lawn maintenance tools, outside Kingswood Apartments on Lee Road following a full workday. The following morning, his mother, Jennifer Sexton, discovered the trailer was gone.

“It was parked right here in this parking spot,” Lukowski said.

Lukowski usually locks his trailer in a storage unit overnight, but on the night of June 13, he left it in front of their apartment building.

“I noticed the trailer was no longer where Kyle had parked it, so I went back inside and asked, ‘Kyle, where’s your trailer?’ He replied that it was outside and asked if I didn’t see it. I said, ‘Kyle, your trailer is not there. You should get up so we can call the police,’” explained Sexton.

They filed a report with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, which valued the stolen items at $8,200.

Lukowski used the equipment for his business, Kyle’s Lawn Care and Handyman Services. Without his riding lawn mower and other tools, he worries about how he will make ends meet.

“It’s hurtful and I don’t know what to do after this, after I worked my butt off to make the money for it,” Lukowski said.

When he’s not working, Lukowski volunteers at Southeastern Food Bank in Ocoee. Sexton says his generosity makes the theft even more painful.

“For people to do what they did to him after everything he’s gone through in life is so, so cruel. You know, it’s almost like hurting a child or grandmother. It’s something you just don’t do,” she said.

Now, they’re turning to the community for help. Sexton set up a GoFundMe to raise funds to replace the stolen equipment so Lukowski can get back to work.

“We’re hoping there’s some good people out there willing to give us some donations, whether it be the lawn equipment that we had or anything of that sort,” Sexton said.

Lewandowski’s GoFundMe can be found here.
