Enhanced security at Helms College after fatal student attack

AUGUSTA, Ga. () – In response to a tragic incident, Helms College on Washington Road in Augusta is enhancing its security measures. This decision follows the fatal stabbing of a student on Monday night.

The institution shared the following statement with NewsChannel 6:

James K. Stiff, President of Helms College, expressed his sorrow, saying, “Martin was a valued member of our community, striving diligently to hone his innate talents and secure a brighter future for his family. He was enrolled in our School of Trades, aiming to qualify as an HVAC technician. Our hearts and prayers are with Martin’s family during this difficult time.”

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into the incident. They have released several photos related to the case.

As of now, there is no information available regarding a suspect or a possible motive.
