FORT WORTH, Texas (WFLA) — Two officers from the Fort Worth Police Department were dispatched to a crash scene on October 23, where a driver and an infant were thrown from their vehicle during the incident.
According to the police, the baby was found unresponsive, trapped beneath the flipped vehicle on Interstate 30.
Body camera footage captured the officers and bystanders working together urgently to lift the vehicle off the infant.
Once freed, an officer immediately began CPR on the unconscious child, successfully reviving her and maintaining her condition until the Fort Worth Fire Department arrived on the scene.
The footage also recorded the officers’ relief when the infant started to cry, providing a glimmer of hope for her recovery after the traumatic event.
“We are immensely proud of Sgt. Nichols and Officer Bounds for their heroic and swift actions at this devastating scene,” the Fort Worth Police Department stated. “We are also thankful for the Fort Worth citizens who, without hesitation, stepped in to help our officers in a time of need.”
The driver and infant are in stable condition and are expected to make a full recovery.
