NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – On Saturday, a boating mishap off the coast of New Smyrna Beach resulted in the rescue of two teenagers after their vessel overturned, according to local fire authorities.
The teens were safely returned to land by the U.S. Coast Guard and received medical attention for minor injuries following the incident with their small boat, as reported by the New Smyrna Beach Fire Department.
Images shared by fire officials depict two individuals in life jackets; one is perched atop the overturned boat while the other clings to the side, partially submerged in the ocean.
The rescue operation was a collaborative effort involving not only the Coast Guard but also support from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and Volusia County Beach Safety, according to the fire department.
