HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. () — Lowcountry businessman Walter Czura wrote and produced the independent film, “The Final Run.”

The film premiered at the 78th Cannes Film Festival located on the French Riviera in May 2025. Set in Beaufort County, the story draws inspiration from true events.

It is based on “Operation Jackpot,” the first major marijuana smuggling operation in the United States. The movie offers a dramatized depiction of events in the lowcountry during President Ronald Reagan’s “War on Drugs” in the 1980s.

Czura spoke with News 3’s Andrew Davis about the movie and how he sees it as a love letter to the area’s past.

“I’ve been profoundly moved by the positive reception and intrigue surrounding our film and the events of that era it depicts,” noted Czura, who is currently crafting the script for a follow-up. “It’s truly a tale of modest origins, resilience, and the solidarity of community in the American South.”

“The Final Run” is available on Amazon Prime. Check out Andrew Davis’s full interview with Walter Czura here:
