Cissna Park volleyball heading to state for third-straight season

HEYWORTH, Ill. (WCIA) – The Cissna Park volleyball team is making a habit of competing at the state tournament level.

The Timberwolves secured their place in the state semifinals for the third consecutive year by clinching a victory at the 1A Super-Sectional match on Monday. Their impressive performance saw them triumph over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in straight sets, with scores of 25-22 and 25-11.

“It’s all about hard work and determination,” expressed Cissna Park head coach Josh Landon. “We pride ourselves on being a fundamentally strong team, and once we master the basics, we strive to elevate our game. The commitment from our players and the support from their families make coaching here a privilege. It’s an incredible opportunity to work with such dedicated kids.”

Looking ahead, the Timberwolves are set to face Tremont in the 1A semifinals this Friday at 10:30 a.m.

In other matches, Rochester faced a setback, losing to Columbia in the 2A Super-Sectional on Monday.
