TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — HSN plans to lay off 730 people after announcing the closure of its St. Petersburg headquarters.
In a letter to the Florida Department of Commerce and Mayor Ken Welch, the company said multiple rounds of layoffs are set to take place this year.
The first phase of layoffs includes 145 employees, whose positions will be terminated on May 26. Another round of layoffs will take place on July 1.
HSN did not say when it plans to finish laying off its St. Pete employees, but stated that some “corporate support related team members” will continue to work remotely.
Citing efforts to refocus its operation on streaming, the company announced in January that it planned to shutter its Florida campus.
“We have the deepest appreciation to the state of Florida and the St. Petersburg community for their support and dedication over HSN’s 47-year history,” Stacy Bowe, President of HSN Brand & US Merchandising, said in a statement at the time.
