CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. () – A 15-year-old allegedly stabbed his mother to death in Chatham County Sunday night.

The Chatham County Police Department reported that officers discovered a 45-year-old woman with several “sharp force injuries” at her residence on Berwick Lakes Boulevard. This was after they received a call about a presumed stabbing incident.

“I don’t have words to put…I don’t have words to explain how sad it is,” one neighbor at Berwick Lakes said.

The woman eventually died from her injuries at the scene.

“I noticed police speeding through the neighborhood, along with firetrucks, more police units, ambulances, and an increasing number of police vehicles, which made it clear to me that something was amiss,” a neighbor recounted.

However, the alleged culprit was the last person many would’ve suspected.

“I heard there was a horrific event where a child took his mother’s life, and that is just terrifying and scary,” neighbor Katherine Osbourne said.

Chatham County police arrested the victim’s 15-year-old son at the scene and charged him with murder.

“It’s a pretty quiet neighborhood,” Osbourne said. “[We] have never seen anything wild like that.”

CCPD said they will not release the son’s name due to his age.

requested the incident report on the case from the Chatham County Police Department, but that request was denied.
