(NEXSTAR) – For the millions of Americans expecting a check from the $725 million Facebook privacy settlement, the wait is nearly over.

The company responsible for issuing payments has confirmed that the distribution process is underway and will proceed in batches over a period of approximately 10 weeks.

Wondering when your payment will arrive? Expect an email from the settlement administrator with the subject line “Notice of Settlement Payment.” Once you receive this notification, your payment should appear in your account within three to four business days.

The delivery of your payment will depend on the method you selected when filing your claim, which includes options like Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, or direct deposit.

Recent court documents have provided more clarity on the potential payout amounts. Payments can range from a minimum of $4.89 to a maximum of $38.36, with an average payment of $29.43. (You can learn more about the payment calculation process and whether your amount will be closer to $5 or $40 here.)

If you get the email notice but do not receive payment within 30 days, you are advised to contact the settlement administrator at info@facebookuserprivacysettlement.com.

What is the class action lawsuit about?

The social media company consented to a $725 million settlement over allegations it breached user privacy by sharing data with third parties. Among these parties was Cambridge Analytica, a consulting firm that backed Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. The firm reportedly accessed data from up to 87 million Facebook users, according to the Associated Press.

While Meta agreed to the payout, it denies wrongdoing.
