In Savannah, Georgia, Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) hosted a job fair on Tuesday, following a large-scale immigration raid at their Bryan County megasite.

The company aims to recruit for 28 salaried roles along with 10 to 12 hourly positions. HMGMA announced job openings across multiple departments via a social media update.

“We’re promoting the fact that our second shift, which will commence next year, promises even more job openings, particularly within the production department,” shared Assistant Manager Jason Zdunich.

The event was at the and open to everyone, with an emphasis on veterans and military service members.

While they have a limit on how many people they can hire right now, officials said more open positions are on the horizon.

Earlier in September, a coordinated immigration operation led to the arrest of 475 individuals. Most of those detained were Korean citizens who have now returned to South Korea.

According to officials from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), this operation was deemed the “largest single site enforcement initiative in HSI’s history.” The federal search warrant specified that the focus of the operation was the lithium battery cell manufacturing facility located on the HMGMA premises.
