I-74 closures to begin this week from Piatt to Champaign Counties

CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Part of Interstate 74 will be closed from Piatt County to Champaign County beginning Wednesday for pavement patching.

Officials from the Illinois Department of Transportation have announced that single lane closures in both directions will occur from the Piatt County line to Duncan Road in Champaign County. These lane closures on I-74 are anticipated to continue for up to two weeks.

IDOT also stated that the westbound off-ramp and the eastbound on-ramp at Prairieview Road will be closed for a duration of 72 hours, followed by a 12-hour closure for the eastbound on-ramp at Illinois 47.

All of the closures are needed for the pavement patching work.

In the coming years, IDOT intends to address over 3,200 miles of highway and almost 9 million square feet of bridge deck as part of the Rebuild Illinois initiative. For further details on IDOT projects, click here.
