RESULTS: IHSA boys' state track 2A and 3A prelims

CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) – The state track meet continued on Friday with the second day of prelims.

Athletes throughout Illinois aimed to earn places in Saturday’s finals. Thursday’s 1A preliminaries kicked off the meet, followed by 2A and 3A athletes who participated in qualifying heats/flights on Friday.

Class 2A:

Mahomet-Seymour and Mt. Zion each had a handful of impressive performances to set themselves up nicely for Saturday.

The Bulldogs had Augustus Gaudio advance in the 800 meters and Henry McMurry qualify for the finals in the 1600 meters. Their 4×800 relay team is also headed to the finals after recording the second-best time of the day at 8:00.45.

Ty Clark will represent MSHS in the pole vault finals, St. Joseph-Ogden’s Jack Wear and Taylorville’s Drake Howard will join him.

The Braves have athletes in the 800 and 4×400 advancing to Saturday’s finals, among others.

Lincoln’s Parker Campbell was able to secure a finals spot in both the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles.
